Okuma uses IM-8 grade graphite in conjunction with our Evo Graph technology to produce one of the strongest yet most responsive blanks available in our GS series. IM-8 graphite is a commonly-referred-to term in the fishing industry which describes the stiffness-to-weight ratio of a graphite blank. IM-8 graphite is around 45 million modulus for added responsiveness, increased power and reduced weight. For comparison purposes, standard graphite is only around 33 million modulus. The EVO Graph technology brings carbon fiber to new levels for rod development. The Evo Graph system uses a carbon fiber weave to wrap the outside layer of the rod blank for increased strength.
